Parent Teacher Organization

Trail Ridge Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a charitable, 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2007.

The mission of the PTO is to connect the Trail Ridge community including parents and guardians, school staff, and community members to support our teachers and students for success at Trail Ridge Middle School.

Trail Ridge PTO encompasses activities and fundraising to assist student programs and classroom needs. PTO activities and fundraising include: an annual Fun Run, Grizzly Nights (or mini fundraisers in the community), Staff Appreciation Week, Staff Conference Meals, Grocery Reward Programs, and Box Top & MOOOLA Cap collections. Other activities are supported as designed throughout the year.

PTO grants provided to TRMS can include funds for:  Robotics/VEX, individual grade programs, supporting curriculum, school marquee, music, art or PE programs, tools or resources as requested by the school.

PTO meets once a month at 6:00 p.m. in the library or at a community venue to discuss PTO activities, funding  and to get a monthly update from TRMS administration. Dates are provided via the monthly school calendar and in the weekly newsletter.

Please consider being part of the PTO. Trail Ridge PTO can be reached at [email protected]  or contact the front office.

Fundraising

American Furniture Warehouse Rewards

One of our community partners is American Furniture Warehouse. Anytime you make a purchase at American Furniture Warehouse, mention Trail Ridge Middle School and at least 2% of your purchase will be donated to our school.

Amazon Smile

Anytime you are online shopping with Amazon, you can support our students.  This program gives .5% of qualifying purchases back to designated organizations. Just log into your Amazon account through Smile.Amazon.com and search Trail Ridge PTO.  Click here for additional information:  www.Smile.Amazon.com

Box Top Collections

Box Tops program is a great way to support Trail Ridge PTO.  Have your student help clip Box Tops to turn in.  Each Box Top is worth 10 cents and easily adds up!  Any Box Tops that you plan on sending in, please place in an envelope/baggie and put the grade and name of your student’s home room teacher on it.  Each year we will have a Box Top Drive, so save them all year long!  Your Box Top contribution can be dropped off at the front office.

Grizzly Spirit Fun Run

Since 2008, TRMS staff and PTO have organized an annual Run/Walk to help raise funds for the school. The event takes place around the school grounds and builds community, promotes health and fitness among our students. Each grade has specific times to participate and we welcome families to come cheer on their students.

Along with community support and donations, this is Trail Ridge’s largest fundraiser for the year and it’s a fun day to celebrate the Trail Ridge Middle School community!

Grants

Grants from the PTO for funds may be requested by Trail Ridge staff or school groups to help support programs, curriculum, activities, tools or resources used by members of the schools.  Requests are submitted for review to administration for approval prior to being considered by the PTO.  Review of grant requests are overseen and approved by the PTO Board and/or members of the PTO.  Requests are reviewed and approved during PTO meetings by vote.  Grant approvals are dependent on funds available during the school year.

Grizzly Nights

We know sometimes making dinner can be a bear.  So to make it easy on you and help our school, we will have a few “Grizzly Nights” throughout the year.  This is a time for the Trail Ridge community to enjoy various venues throughout Longmont and have some fun!  We have nights at restaurants or venues that are partnering with Trail Ridge to give back a portion of the proceeds to help our school.  Watch the school calendar or weekly newsletter for dates throughout the school year.

Grocery Reward Programs

Be sure to link your King Soopers Loyalty Card (or alternate ID, i.e. phone number) to Trail Ridge PTO. King Soopers will give back proceeds to our school every time you use your card! For more information visit https://www.kingsoopers.com/topic/king-soopers-community-rewards

MOOOLA Cap Collections

One of our ongoing programs is Milk Caps for MOOOLA, which is program designed by Longmont Dairy that helps students earn money for their school. If you utilize Longmont Dairy Milk, remember to save your bottle caps and bring them to school.  All caps can be placed in the designated Longmont Dairy box located within the front office of Trail Ridge. For more information visit http://longmontdairy.com/milk-caps-for-mooola/

Staff Appreciation Week

Each year we celebrate our teachers and staff the first week in May for Staff Appreciation Week.  This includes recognizing our teachers and all the staff through various activities such as:  appreciation notes from students, providing snacks or lunches throughout the week, or providing small tokens of appreciation.  If you have ideas or suggestions, or are willing to assist during the week, please contact PTO at [email protected] anytime throughout the year.

Staff Conference Meals

Two times a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring for two-three nights each, Trail Ridge teachers and staff conduct conferences with parents & guardians after school and throughout the evening.  To help support our staff during these times, we like to work together to provide evening meals.

Dependent on funds available, the Trail Ridge community will either cater in a portion of a meal, provide home cooked meals or sides, as well as solicit for donations from venues.  We also provide set up and clean up of the meals on each date.

We will provide a volunteer link for folks to sign up to help during these times.

Watch the weekly newsletters during conference time to help support this effort.
