Late Start Day
Next Wednesday, November 5th is our next Late Start Day. School will begin at 10:15am.
Parents, we need your assistance with something that has become more of an issue recently. We have had some instances where students have been ordering pizzas for delivery during lunch time. Certainly, if parents would like to drop off lunch for students, we welcome that. However, we do not allow students to place orders for delivery during the school day. Thank you for your support!
Veteran’s Day Celebration
Calling all United States Military Veterans of the Armed Forces: Please join us at our annual Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th, 2014. We wish to honor you and your service in the military with a Flag-Raising Ceremony starting at 7:30 am out front of our school, followed by a short slide show and a doughnut and coffee reception in our digital commons. We would like all Veterans to form an inner circle around the flagpole, before it is raised. If you would like to share your name, title (rank), years of service and which student you belong to, we can provide a special recognition slide for you. An example: Joe Smith, United States Army, Vietnam Era, 1967-69, Corporal - Uncle of Melissa Smith 7th grader (include a photo of you in your uniform if you like). Plan to arrive a little bit early to allow for parking. All visitors must pick up a Visitor's Pass from the front office if you plan to join us inside. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit to our school or classrooms, please contact Martina Garcia (Social Studies Teacher). 720-494-3820 extension 35431 or firstname.lastname@example.org

It’s report card time!!!!!
Please log into the parent portal of Infinite Campus to view your child’s first quarter report card. If you would like a hard copy of the report card, please email Ms. Luann in the front office (firstname.lastname@example.org). She will be able to get it for you.
As a parent/guardian, it is important that you are aware of how your child is doing in school. As you look at your student’s report card, please look for the following things:
1. Attendance: Notice how many times your student has missed a class or has been tardy. If he/she has a lot of absences and/or tardies, please reinforce how important it is to get to class everyday and on time. As a reminder, good attendance is a contributing factor of successful academic achievement both now and in the future. A student cannot learn the content if he/she is not in class.
2. GPA (Grade Point Average): This is a quick snapshot of how your student is doing academically overall. For each “A” grade, a student is awarded 4 points; each “B” is 3 points; each “C” is 2 points; and so on. The closer your student is to a 4.0, the better he/she is doing academically.
3. Next, look at the individual classes and their grades. Notice if your child is struggling in a particular class or may be having a hard time overall.
Reviewing your child’s report card with him or her is a great opportunity to have an open and supportive dialogue about your child’s academic life. Next week we will have academic support tips so your child can reach his/her full potential.
