Boletín para padres de Trail Ridge - 17 de diciembre de 2021

Trail Ridge Families,

A short five months ago, we began this school year ready for a great year. Though we didn’t completely know what to anticipate as we continued through the pandemic, the staff and students at TRMS were ready and committed to take on anything that came our way. And I can tell you, without a doubt, it has been an outstanding first semester for the Grizzlies!

There has not been a day that I have not been impressed by both student and staff alike! They impress me with their resilience, dedication, kindness, and hard work. I couldn’t be more proud of the Trail Ridge family, so allow me to share some highlights from our first semester:

•During the first quarter, an amazing 64% of our students achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher and made the Honor Roll! This included 82 students who were recognized with a perfect 4.0. The students came in and were prepared to do their very best right from the start!

•Our mid-year iReady Results have come back very strong! Our median growth percentage in math is 92% and for reading it is 81%. This means that our students have achieved almost a year’s growth in half a school year! Our teaching staff collaborates on a weekly basis to support all students here at TRMS and their efforts are evident in the results. As we like to say here in St. Vrain: #academicexcellencebydesign

The Grizzly League of Champions has had an amazing inaugural year and has brought a healthy level of competition and school spirit to all grade levels. Students look forward to the weekly competitions and opportunities to make a variety of new friends as they increase their teamwork.

•The TRMS Unified program is up and running and is just another example of how every student matters at Trail Ridge. The students in our SSN program are supported by their peers and provided with opportunities in real life situations. The school coffee cart, organized and run by the students, has had a very positive impact on the school culture. And watch out for Unified basketball starting in January.  The TRMS Unified program continues to grow and work toward national recognition!

•As part of the #SVVSDKINDNESS campaign this semester, the TRMS student body collected over 1,500 pounds of food for our community. This is by far the most we have ever collected and is just a great example of our community working together to benefit others! All items were donated to the local OUR Center here in town.

•Trail Ridge offers a wide variety of after school and extracurricular activities. To date, over 91% of all students have participated in at least one activity including clubs, athletics, or other academic endeavors. One example of this was our volleyball program, which hosted over 20% of our entire student body!

•The highly recognized Robotics program here at Trail Ridge continues its ascension as competitions have returned. Recently, we had two teams compete in a high school level tournament, and at one point late in the event, our 6th grade team was leading the entire competition! Great things are ahead for our teams as they look to defend their State Championship!

•Our National Junior Honor Society welcomed many new members this year and hit the ground running. Volunteer hours have already started to accumulate as students learn the value of being a productive part of the community. Recently, they organized a Giving Tree to support local kids, including providing stuffed animals to our local hospital.

•This semester we were able to return to our in-person music concerts and they were amazing! Our students in band, choir, and orchestra had a great time sharing their first performances and the music was great! Our visual and performing arts program is a big part of what we do here at TRMS, as evidenced by the many students selected to District Honor groups in music. And just wait until you see the talent evident in our young artists! Great things are coming your way in the second semester.

•And not to be outdone, the parent involvement piece has increased immensely this year! Parents have stepped up in a big way to fill our entire PTO and provide great support for our school! At the end of September, our Parent Conference schedules were filled with both online and in-person meetings. Our commons area was filled with spectators for concert performances, and the stands have been packed during our athletic competitions. The Trail Ridge community is awesome!

WOW! Once again, it has been an outstanding first semester here at Trail Ridge Middle School. We appreciate all of the support we receive from our community, our families, and our District!
As we head into the Holiday Break, I want to wish each family the very best. Our office will re-open on Monday, January 3rd and students will begin the second semester on Wednesday, January 5th. We look forward to continuing our success into 2022!
